Dr. Thanh Phan

Dr. Thanh Phan is a business and immigration lawyer with extensive experience supporting multinational corporate clients across diverse industries, including information technology, management consulting, engineering, and food and agriculture. His legal practice is complemented by a deep understanding of innovation ecosystems and startup development, particularly in Canada’s high-tech sector.

Thanh holds a PhD in Law from the University of Victoria. He currently teaches Immigration and Citizenship Law as an adjunct professor at both Queen’s University and the University of Victoria, Faculty of Law. He has also lectured on Canadian Public and Constitutional Law at Osgoode Hall Law School.

Before moving to Canada, Thanh served the Government of Vietnam for over a decade as a legal counsel and delegate in international trade negotiations. His work included leading roles in Vietnam’s free trade agreements with the European Union and the Eurasian Customs Union.

Thanh brings his passion for networking and mentoring to CGV with a clear vision: to help foreign startups thrive and take root in Canada—creating jobs, driving innovation, and strengthening the competitiveness of the Canadian economy.
